School districts in Central Texas are growing at
exponential rates, but none of them yet matches the vast size and reach of the
Austin Independent School District. AISD is big simply because it
has to be: it's responsible for most of the entire city of Austin. It has the
task of educating over 82,000 students that live within its jurisdiction, which
sprawls all the way from north Austin near Round Rock's border, to the east of
