Austin’s Free Day of Yoga is Labor Day

Austin is well-known for its fitness lifestyle – whether at the Lake, on the trail, on the roads, or at home. On September 5, Labor Day, yoga studios all over the city are participating in Austin’s Free Day of Yoga. Since it’s a holiday, many Austinites will be able to take advantage of their day off to try yoga for the first time - or try a new variety.
“At Castle Hill, we love to participate in the city-wide Free Day of Yoga Event,” said Stefania Tafuro, Outreach and Public Relations Manager at Castle Hill Fitness. “It is a great opportunity to bring the community together to celebrate the transformative and therapeutic power of yoga.”
Free classes begin at 4:30 a.m. and will run until 10 p.m. With over 30 sponsors, including local yoga studios and businesses involved in the yoga community, there will be classes for everyone – even kids, like the Kids Yoga class at Steiner Ranch Community Center Bella Mar. If you're inclined to sleep in, there also will be a variety of afternoon and evening classes, everything from classical Vinyasa for all levels to Hatha yoga practiced while listening to house, hip hop, club, and top 40 music.
Additionally, Sunday, September 4th, is the opening ceremony for the full day of free yoga. Whole Foods Market in downtown Austin will offer one hour of free yoga on their upper deck. Patrons will have the choice of three classes to participate in Sunday - a beginner class, an intermediate level, and a children’s level. The only thing required for participation is a yoga mat. The first 100 people to the registration tables will receive a free gift bag. Many of the vendors participating in Austin’s Free Day of Yoga also will be at the registration tables, answering questions.
