Community Involvement
As a successful Austin Texas real estate team we recognize the importance of our community, and take pride in giving back to local residents and charitable groups. Here are some of the causes we work hardest on.
Charitable Contributions
Regent Property Group dedicates a percentage of our commissions to Susan G Komen For the Cure and BRAINS for Autism.
Susan G Komen is a not for profit organization dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage - from the causes to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between. Visit the following link for the touching history behind the creation of this group: Susan G Komen .
BRAINS for Autism is a not for profit organization with the mission of funding an Endowed Scholars Program for $3 million. This program will guarantee the recruitment of a leading, young investigator every four years, indefinitely, dedicated to Autism research. BRAINS for Autism and UT Southwestern are committed to raising a total of $1.5 million. This amount will then be matched by an anonymous donor to arrive at the $3 million goal. Their ultimate goal is to fund a Comprehensive Clinical and Research Center in Autism Spectrum Disorders, which will require a commitment of $10 million or more.
Message from our CEO Brian Talley
Thank You,Did you know that two out of three Americans are overweight, one of three has either diabetes or pre-diabetes, and cancer is now the number one cause of death? You might be shocked as to the number of toxins the average American is exposed to every day from the food we eat to the kitchen and bath products that we use.
In 1994 my father was diagnosed with breast cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 1,450 new cases of invasive breast cancer are diagnosed in men each year and approximately 470 men die from breast cancer annually. Male breast cancers account for approximately 1% of all breast cancer cases. Fortunately my father was able to catch the cancer early enough to have it surgically removed. He was diagnosed and treated at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX where he was given a biopsy, mastectomy, plastic surgery, and three treatments of radiation. Subsequently, the Susan G Komen research center included him in their breast cancer research due to the rare type of cancer he had.
In 2004 my nephew Kevin was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of 3. For anyone who has a child with autism, you can certainly understand the significant challenges and stress involved. Raising my nephew Kevin has been no exception, but due to my sister and brother-in-law’s relentless research and treatment Kevin is now enrolled in mainstream public school and is indistinguishable from his normally progressing peers.
“For many years autism was rare - occurring in just five children per 10,000 live births. However, since the early 1990's, the rate of autism has increased exponentially around the world with figures as high as 60 per 10,000. Boys outnumber girls four to one. In 2007, the Centers for Disease Control reported that 1 in 150 children is diagnosed with autism.” See www.mercola.com for more information. Dr. Mercola runs the #1 Natural Health Web Site in the country. Visit http://www.mercola.com/forms/background.htm for his qualifications.
As a result of my aforementioned experiences and due to my desire to see a cure for these diseases (and many others) within my lifetime, I have chosen to dedicate a percentage of each of my real estate commissions to the Susan G Komen and BRAINS for Autism organizations. If you have a similar desire to see a cure for cancer and autism, would you please contribute to these organizations as well? Just visit their websites and following the instructions to contribute.
