Georgetown, Texas is a small city about half an hour north of Austin. Home to about 50,000 residents, this picturesque town is located between the waters of the North and South San Gabriel Rivers and near the hills of Central Texas. Georgetown is known as the “Red Poppy” capital of Texas for its splendid display of red poppy wildflowers each spring, and an annual Red Poppy Festival in April attracts up to 30,000 visitors. Georgetown has a significant historical presence in terms of buildings, with much Victorian commercial and residential architecture. Golf
Berry Creek Golf Club is a private golf course on 115 acres, with lengths ranging from 5,110 yards to 6,649 yards.
Cowan Creek Golf Club is a resort-style public course with rolling fairways, water features, large landing areas, and generous greens. Designed by Gary Stevenson, Cowan Creek is the newest championship golf course in Sun City.
Georgetown Country Club offers an 18-hole regulation length golf course with water hazards on 12 holes. The historic course is in a valley that is home to an abundance of wildlife.
Legacy Hills Golf Club is an 18-hole public course designed by PGA champion Billy Casper and golf architect Greg Nash. It is recognized as one of the best golf courses in the Texas Hill Country.
White Wing Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 public course on 118 acres with three lakes. White Wing has a nine-acre practice range and a putting green.
Parks and Recreation
San Gabriel Park was named a Lone Star Legacy Park by the Texas Recreation & Parks Society in 2012. San Gabriel Park provides for concerts, festivals, and sports. Georgetown Community Center is located within San Gabriel Park. The Georgetown Skate Park also is located in San Gabriel Park and offers ramps, grind boxes, rails, half pipes, and quarter pipes.
Georgetown Indoor Pool is open year-round. An outdoor pool and splash pool are at the Georgetown Recreation Center.

Berry Springs Park and Preserve is a 300-acre space used for passive recreation, such as camping, hiking, and fishing.
Founder’s Park – a historic park honoring Williamson County’s first six commissioners, who chose a location for the county seat here in May 1848.
Georgetown Challenge Course is a year-round course with low team elements, 22 high elements, including parallel zip lines, and two rock climbing walls.
Blue Hole is a lagoon on the South San Gabriel River in a park lined by limestone bluffs. Cedar Breaks Park offers 64 campsites with water and electric hookups. Other parks include Jim Hogg Park, Lake Georgetown, and Russell Park.
Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department maintains three Disc Golf Courses: 9-hole courses Pinnacle Disc Golf Course and San Gabriel Park Golf Course and 18-hole Disc Golf Course in the Rivery Park.
Georgetown Tennis Center offers 11 hard surface lighted tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a clubhouse.
A popular tourist attraction, Inner Space Caverns is a living karst cave that is estimated to be 100 million years old, and several prehistoric Ice-Age skeletons have been found there. Today, it offers 1.2 miles of public viewing passages.
Georgetown Public Library is a 49,500 square foot facility and offers more than 80,000 items, as well as book clubs for kids, teens, and adults and a chess club.
Historic Downtown Georgetown offers views of Victorian architecture and other historical buildings, art murals, shopping, and dining. The Palace Theatre in historic downtown hosts year-round live theater productions. The Williamson Museum promotes the culture and heritage of Williamson County. Williamson County Courthouse is a neoclassical structure highly visible in Georgetown and a focal point of the central business district.
