River Place Neighborhood Location
River Place, in Northwest Austin, is bordered by RR 2222 to the north, the Balcones Canyon Land Preserve to the west, and Lake Austin to the South, and sits just east of Westminster and Emma Long Metropolitan Park. It is 16 miles from downtown Austin, making it about 30 minutes when commuting by car.
Neighborhood Amenities
River Place offers waterfront access, a country club, a community pool, golf courses, playgrounds, a jogging path, and a nature trail for residents. A centrally located park features a soccer field, pavilions, and playgrounds, and the nature trail skirts the Balcones Canyon Land Preserve.
Parks
Sun Tree Park is at the intersection of River Place Boulevard and Big View Drive. The park has a pavilion, charcoal grills, shaded swings and jungle gym, benches, soccer field, gazebo, and exercise area.
Woodlands Park is at the bottom of Big View Drive along the shores of Panther Hollow that feeds Lake Austin. The park has a pavilion, charcoal grills, swings and jungle gym, practice soccer fields, benches, and many large shade trees. Across from Woodlands Park is a Board Walk overlooking the pond that provides benches and shade.
Nature Trail
The Nature Trail meanders through a wooded preserve area within River Place. The ends of the trail are at the bottom of River Place Boulevard near the country club and the Board Walk. The trail follows the path of Panther Creek as it travels to Lake Austin and provides a peaceful walking environment with benches for resting and enjoying the view.
Scenic Overlooks
There are three scenic overlooks along River Place Boulevard and Big View Drive. The overlooks have benches or swings and shade for enjoying a panoramic view of the community.
Golf
The River Place Country Club is a private club that provides golf, tennis, fitness, swimming, dining, and social activities. The club features a 48,000 square foot clubhouse, a junior tennis academy, and a golf course designed in part by Austin celebrity and U.S. Open champion Tom Kite. The 18-hole championship course is one of the most beautiful and dramatic courses in central Texas, providing a challenging golf experience with breathtaking Hill Country views.
