Steiner Ranch in Austin, TX
Located in northwest Austin, Steiner Ranch is a master planned community that spans nearly 5,000 acres between Lake Austin and Lake Travis. Homes are nestled nearby the Balcones Canyonland Preserve for a gorgeous backdrop. The area, fondly known as “The Land Between the Lakes,” boasts a resort-like setting and endless array of recreational opportunities. And, it’s been recognized as the “Best Master-Planned Community” by the Austin Business Journal. With traffic, it’s a 25-30 minute drive from the downtown area.
This popular neighborhood is filled with homes that range from $250,000 to more than $3 million, and have been created by a variety of home builders. Most homes are single-family, with the occasional upscale town homes scattered throughout the neighborhood. The area is quite spread out, so although some activities and venues are within walking distance, many residents use a car to get around the area. There are also a few Capital Metro bus stations in Steiner Ranch that lead to downtown.
The neighborhood is part of the Leander Independent School District, a highly-ranked district in the city. Schools include Laura Welch Bush Elementary, Steiner Ranch Elementary, River Ridge Elementary, and Canyon Ridge Middle School. The School of the Hills Montessori is also located here. Most high school students in the area attend Cedar Park High School while others attend Vandegrift High.
Although away from the hustle and bustle of the city, residents of Steiner Ranch are conveniently located near several shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. The Hill Country Galleria, an upscale mall is nearby, where you’ll find stores like Ann Taylor, White House Black Market, and Dillard’s. The Four Points Shopping Center, Target, and H.E.B. are also within minutes.
The variety of recreational opportunities in Steiner Ranch are endless. There are several recreational centers in the neighborhood that offer swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts and multi-purpose fields that are perfect for a quick game of soccer or flag football. Additionally, 20 miles of hiking trails wind around the neighborhood, offering residents the perfect place for a quick bike ride or run. The Lake Austin Spa, named the #1 destination spa in the country by Conde Nast Traveler, is also on the edge of Steiner Ranch right on the Lake Austin. Here, you can indulge in luxurious treatments or treat yourself to a pedicure.
Nestled at the southwestern edge of the neighborhood is the Steiner Ranch Boat Club. The club features a boat ramp with access to Lake Austin, which is known for some of the best wakeboarding in the country. The University of Texas Golf Club also makes its home here. The 7,225-yard, par-71 championship course boasts beautiful greens and is one of the finest courses in the state of Texas. With a membership to the club, residents will also have access to a luxurious club house, fitness facility, and personal trainers. Aside from the parks inside Steiner Ranch, there are 819 acres of nature preserves where residents can go to view wildlife.
For a bite to eat, the neighborhood doesn’t disappoint. One of the most well-known nearby venues is The Oasis, know as “the sunset capital of Texas.” It boasts several levels of decks where patrons can sit to enjoy the night skyline. The Steiner Ranch Steakhouse is another favorite, with an excellent wine selection, stunning views, and U.S.D.A. prime steaks.
